UGC marketplace

Updated

UGC marketplace: A UGC marketplace is a platform where brands post campaigns, creators apply, and the videos, approvals and payments run in one place.

A UGC marketplace is the job board and the back office in one. The brand writes a campaign: the product, the brief, the pay model, who may apply. Creators see it and apply, or get invited. The brand picks, the product ships, the videos come in, the brand approves, the money moves. The marketplace holds the brief, the files, the rights and the payouts, so neither side is chasing the other by email.

The word “marketplace” matters because the creators come to the brand. Off-platform, a brand finds creators one DM at a time. On a marketplace, the campaign is the outreach.

Example. A brand lists a campaign: samples shipped, $60 per approved video, 15 % of sales through each creator’s code. Forty creators apply; the brand picks ten. Seven videos are approved, $420. The codes bring 90 orders of $45 in two months, $607 in commission, counted and paid by the platform. The brand sent zero DMs. Example numbers, not a benchmark.

When brands use it. The pain this answers: “I spend my week DMing creators who never reply.” A marketplace replaces the DM with an application. The second pain it answers is “We use one tool for UGC, another for affiliates and a third for ads,” when the marketplace carries more than one pay model and runs the ads too. The questions to ask: which pay models it supports, how sales are counted, what the platform takes, and whether the brand can run the winning videos as ads from the same place.

The creator’s view. A marketplace gives a small creator campaigns they could not negotiate alone, and gives a known one a filter; the known one may want direct terms. Either way: who counts the results, when money moves, what the platform takes.
